STUN Part 2

from SHRIMPS music by Mark Wheaton

/

about

STUN was a performance that was first presented at LACE Gallery in it's old location in downtown LA on Industrial Street. the piece begins outside LACE when a flatbed truck pulls up with the SHRIMPS members standing on the back flatbed of the truck. Martin was driving. The piece gradually moves off the truck and transitions into a solo by Steven Nagler where he does a very provocative dance with a stump of a tree and a bucket of mud. It ends with the SHRIMPS running madly back and forth across the street. the music was a collaboration between Mark Wheaton and Steve Stewart. We each developed pieces in our own studios that were passed to the other person, where an alternate version was created. In the live performance, there were two sound systems at opposite ends of the performance area and Steve and Mark each ran a mixer with a set of looping cassettes. We would start and stop our playback overlapping or interrupting each other. Please check out the video on the Catasonic Channel on Youtube:
